“We are committed to providing a safe and professional transportation service to our future leaders, while supporting the district educational mission” We travel approximately 540,234 miles per year, transporting approximately 3300 students. We manage 111 runs daily with a fleet of 50 buses. Transportation is also responsible for the service and maintenance of all district vehicles making the total fleet 162 vehicles.

North Forest Independent Schools District (NFISD) provides bus service for:

  • Elementary school students living more than 2.0 mile of walking distance from school.*
  • Middle school students living more than 2.0 miles of walking distance from school.*
  • High school students living more than 2.0 miles of walking distance from school.*
  • Morning and afternoon kindergarten students at the noon hour.
  • Students who face hazardous walking conditions regardless of distance from school (multilane highways, construction areas, etc.) as determined by the NFISD Department of Transportation.
  • Students in special education, magnet, gifted/talented, and some vocational/education programs that are not offered at the student’s home school.

    *A tenth of a mile may be added to establish a reasonable boundary.
